Two special family activities highlight the weekend of October 10th & 11th at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. Sponsored by the Friends of LBJ NHP, a Family Fun run is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, beginning at 9:00 a.m., and the popular Bike Tour of the LBJ Ranch, hosted by Luci Baines Johnson, President and Mrs. Johnson's younger daughter, is set for Sunday, October 11, at 2:00 p.m.

The Saturday Fun Run will include three routes: 1K, 5K and 10K on the LBJ Ranch. Click to see the Routes.

The Sunday Ranch Bike Tour covers approximately nine miles, with several stops for historical information and discussion provided by Luci Johnson.

The fun runs will have first, second and third place medal awards for males and females in the following age categories: 10 and under, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

The registration fee for each event is $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for children (ages 12 and under), and a team rate of $50.00 for a family of three or more.

The fee includes a T-shirt for all participants registering by September 30th. Click to see the T-shirt Logo.

Also included in the fee is a tour of the refurbished living room, dining room, kitchen and Presidential Office in the Texas White House.

Participants in the events are encouraged to make a day or weekend of it at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park (the LBJ Ranch) and the adjacent Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site. The state park also has many attractions, including the Sauer-Beckmann Farm, nature trails and wildlife, bison and Longhorn enclosures, and no-permit-required fishing on the Pedernales River. Picnic groves at the state park are available for those who wish to bring lunch or snacks.

Overnight and RV accommodations are available in Johnson City, Stonewall and Fredericksburg.

Proceeds from both activities will benefit the educational programs and initiatives of the Friends of Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, and the Johnson City Community Education Foundation. President and Mrs. Johnson were dedicated to education in all its forms, a mission now continued by both of their daughters.
