JOHNSON CITY EVENT/MEETING CENTER

National Park Service Now Offering Johnson City Event/Meeting Center for Rent.
This facility is ideal for meetings, catered parties, family reunions, weddings, etc.

For a downloadable brochure with full details and application form, click on: Event/Meeting Center Brochure (requires Adobe Reader).

The Friends of LBJ National Historical Park rent the facility for meetings, catered parties, family reunions, weddings, etc.

The Event/Meeting Center is a stone structure with heavy timber exposed

beams and a shake roof.

The Center includes exhibit materials telling the story

of early settlement in the Texas Hill Country and the Johnson family

who moved to the area in the late-1860’s.

The Center is adjacent to the

Johnson Settlement that includes the original log “dog-trot” cabin that

President Johnson’s Grandfather built.

The stone structure Event/Meeting Center includes a 988 square foot (28’ x 34’) air-conditioned room that will comfortably seat 60 people and can be arranged in any manner with portable tables and chairs.  The room is brightly lighted by windows and overhead lighting. Ceiling fans keep the room well ventilated and comfortable. A large breezeway separates the meeting room from the restrooms.  Handicap restrooms are available.

A small kitchen includes a refrigerator/freezer, sink with hot and cold water, and a stove-oven combination unit.  Permit holders are required to leave the kitchen clean and ready for the next use.  Cleaning supplies and towels must be provided by the permit holder.  A large porch runs the length of the building on two sides with some rocking chairs provided.

Twenty picnic tables are arranged beneath the large trees in front of the Event/Meeting Center.  Trash cans are distributed around the picnic tables.  Permit holders are required to empty the trashcans and deposit the garbage in the park’s dumpster at the west side of the visitor center.  Replacement trash bags are stored in the cabinets in the kitchen.

Automobile parking is available adjacent to the circular drive leading to the Event/Meeting Center.  Vehicles parked three-deep will allow for approximately 20 vehicles to be parked to the east of the building.  Diagonal parking for approximately 12 vehicles is permitted along the split-fence line to the north of the building.  Overflow parking for large groups may be accommodated in the park’s RV parking area at the visitor center.

Hours for Use:  The Event/Meeting Center and grounds are available for rental and use during daylight hours.  The one-way dirt road, picnic area, and exterior of the Center are not lighted.  Note:  Park visitors may pass through the outside area en-route to the Johnson Settlement during the event.  See the area map attached.

Fees:

Basic one-day use of event/meeting center and grounds:   $250
                  (Daylight hours only)

Ranger guided tour of the Johnson Settlement (NTE 1 hr):  $50

Limitations and Requirements of Use:

Alcohol is permitted during functions at the Event/Meeting Center, but kegs are limited to group reservations only.

The kitchen must be wiped down, swept out and the oven, refrigerator, and sink left clean.

National park representatives will open and secure the building, contact the ranger on-duty at the visitor center
